I don't know if this is a national story, but around here it's a big to-do. The first of the retired shuttles, Discovery, is making its final trek to the air and space museum's Dulles location (about 15 minutes from here). It is strapped to a modified jumbo jet and is doing low passes at notable spots in the area. My wife works close to the Dulles airport and was able to snap this picture with her phone as the shuttle flew by less than an hour ago.

Last one of these, and for comparison's sake, here is a link to Stephen's first birthday cake eating. I'm surprised how similar their hair is. I thought Stephen had more hair.

Well, we did it. We scraped everything together in time for the party. Through some somewhat shady practices, we got our desk assembled. The furniture store delivered the rest of our chairs for our dining room table. We got another fridge for the garage and filled it with drinks. We bought too many drinks. We bought too much food. Too much of everything, really. Our fridge and kitchen are still recovering from those events. I'm thinking 30-35 people showed up throughout the day.
I had my whole immediate family in my house for one night. Parents, grandparents, and one brother came before the party and left the next day. Other brother came the day of the party and stayed several days after. It was great to have everyone together.
