Stephen meets Great Grandpa Valentine

This is my paternal grandfather, William V. Stephen’s middle name is William
(also the first name of my father, my youngest brother, and Jaime’s late grandfather).

The expression of joy on my grandfather’s face is excellent, but the shadows caused by the flash always annoy me. I try a few ways to minimize the shadows (like a cheap flash diffuser), but they only work some of the time. I still can’t justify buying a stand-alone flash because I do not use it often enough. (And flash kits are too expensive in my opinion). The two Canon lenses that I have can be set as low as f1.2 and f1.4, which has the potential to take good photos in really low-light situations. Unfortunately, sometimes there is still not enough light. The way I chose my camera (Canon 40D) is that I wanted a professional-grade camera that still came with a built-in flash (kind of a lame qualification). Not to mention, I wanted a camera that could operate on its own without any attachments so my wife could easily take pictures whenever she wanted.
